A wonderfully cheeky antique hand embroidered cushion from the USA. It is a good example of the painted fabric type of work, where the embroiderer has first painted the picture and then embellished it. The expressions on the couples faces are perfect - his cheeky wink and her bashful downward glance. New Orleans in the 1900's? Who knows but it makes a great cushion. It is mounted onto French linen with a silky silver ric-rac, is backed in the same linen and finished with scarlet piping. It has an envelope opening for easy removal, is hand washable and comes complete with a quality feather pad.
